Luxury flooring ideas that will really enhance your home
Choosing the right flooring can make a real difference to the aesthetic of your home. From larger living area expanses to cosy intimate zones, flooring is as important as wall dressing and furnishing. But the look of your flooring shouldn’t be your only consideration; it’s important to make sure you choose a flooring option that will stand up to the levels of wear and tear to which it’s going to be exposed. The good news is that luxury flooring covers both bases.
If you’re after a flooring solution that will look amazing and retain its good looks as time progresses, start considering the high-end of the market. To make things easier, we have fifteen luxury flooring ideas that will give your home the unique look and feel you’re after.
Luxury vinyl flooring
If you’re looking for flooring that can provide durability as well as opulence, luxury vinyl flooring may well be the answer. Particularly useful in bathrooms and kitchens because of its stain resistant properties, your vinyl floor won’t need any complicated waxing, polishing or sealing. Vinyl floors at the luxury end of the market look every bit as good as natural stone or wood floors.
Reclaimed Wooden Floors
There can be no doubt about it; it’s hard to take your eyes off a carefully restored reclaimed wooden floor. With beautiful patinas, interesting markings and natural knots, these historical beauties will exceed your expectations when it comes to enhancing your home and furnishings. Even better than that, because the boards have already been exposed for such a long time, they won’t expand and contract in the same way that new wooden floors do.
Synonymous with luxury and opulence, marble floors come with a purchase and installation price tag to match. However, if you want jaws to drop as people enter your home, as well as a floor that really will stand the test of time, luxury marble flooring might be the home addition your interior design dreams are made of.
Luxury flooring doesn’t have to cost the earth but it can be helpful to know what to look out for. By choosing a durable product you can limit the impact of replacement floors, and by opting for natural flooring choices, you can reduce the number of chemicals involved in your floor’s manufacture. If you feel more drawn to luxury vinyl floor, it is possible to find options that use recycled products.
Luxury natural carpets
There’s something really special about a natural carpet, and it’s not just the fact that they’re often a more manageable option for allergy sufferers. From timeless sisal to soft springy wool, natural fibres add high-end levels of texture and distinct character to your interior design.
Cut pile carpeting
If you’re looking for carpet you can wriggle your toes, and even your fingers into, cut pile carpet is hard to beat. With tufting at the end of each fibre, this carpet is especially suitable for bedrooms or areas such as television rooms in which you want to be able to sit on the floor.
Leather floors can add a touch of difference to any home, and will age naturally to gain individual character and patina. Evocative of times past, leather flooring is perfect for intimate and cosy areas. It not only looks and feels amazing, it smells luxurious as well.
Opt for a luxury rubber floor, and you’ll open up the possibilities of a wonderful range of colours, textures and styles. From bright modern good looks to distinctive old-world style, rubber flooring doesn’t just offer you aesthetic flexibility, it’s also more durable than some traditional floors.
Luxury Amtico flooring
Even the most luxurious of floors can lose its lustre when faced with the challenges of busy everyday life. If you’re looking for a stylish luxury floor with exemplary impact resistance and stain protection, Amtico with its waterproof compressed resins are definitely worth considering.
Sophisticated stone flooring will always add value to any luxury home. Naturally beautiful and hygienic, stone floors can be cool to your feet in the summer but are also really compatible with underfloor heating systems. If you’re looking for something unique, the natural surfaces and tones of a stone floor should be high on your home-aesthetic priority list.
If you’re looking for high sophistication, you can’t go far wrong with mosaic laminate flooring. A unique and evocative form of art, the bright colours and intricate patterns of mosaics are popular across cultures, and can bring a touch of the exotic into your home. Mosaic laminate flooring will give you the travel-reminiscent aesthetic you’re looking for with all the practical manageability your lifestyle demands.
Marble flooring design is synonymous with distinguished interiors and gasps of admiration. However, this type of perfection requires the skills of expert installers. Once you’re enjoying the impact of this ultimate luxury flooring though, you’ll find your marble tiles a breeze to look after as well as being a joy to your eyes.
Engineered hardwood flooring
Although engineered hardwood flooring usually costs less than solid hardwood floors, it’s often the best choice for some areas of your home, and can look just as luxurious. Fabricated from cross-layers of real hardwood, engineered hardwood is less likely to expand, and can resist the higher levels of humidity you might find in basements, kitchens or gardens.
If you’re used to associating porcelain with fine china, you might be surprised to hear that porcelain flooring is more long-lasting and water-resistant than other more ordinary types of ceramic floor. Made from ultra-fine particles fired at super-high temperatures, porcelain tiles have an intrinsic versatility that allows them to mimic a wide range of popular flooring materials.
It should be no surprise that linoleum flooring is currently undergoing a renaissance when it comes to luxury home design. Super-durable and made from naturally renewable materials, this versatile flooring option can be laid in technically complicated patterns, is easy to maintain, and even has some anti-bacterial properties. Equally suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and high-traffic areas, linoleum floors offer a unique combination of beauty and practicality.
