You really will be spoilt for choice with Karndean flooring as they offer colour and styles to suit any room. If you are looking for beauty and timelessness, Karndean may well be the flooring option for you.
What are the benefits of Karndean flooring?
The benefits of Karndean flooring are many and it is small wonder this , luxury flooring has become so popular. Compared to carpet, engineered wood or natural flooring, Karndean has many advantages. We take a look at some of them below:
A luxurious natural appearance
Karndean flooring looks exactly like the natural material it has been designed to imitate. Whether you are after the warmth of wood, the grandeur of stone or something in between, Karndean flooring can really help your home to shine.
Versatile design options
Sometimes it can be great fun to enhance the look of a large expanse of floor. With a range of design borders, design strips and other features, Karndean flooring can be customised to meet even the most exacting of interior design requirements.
Durable and reliable
If you have a busy household or some particularly high traffic areas in your home, you won’t need to worry about durability with a Karndean floor. Made from robust tailored vinyl, this flooring will take all your family can throw at it.
If you have ever experienced a wooden or engineered wood floor, you will know that they can become stained when they get wet. Karndean flooring is waterproof and can cope with all kinds of spillages, which means that it is far less likely to blemish.
Vulnerability to damage
Whilst damaged sections of hardwood flooring can be repaired and re-treated, you won’t want to do this for every small scratch or dent. If you are a particular perfectionist when it comes to your flooring, you might want to think twice about hardwood flooring. If, on the other hand, you like an ‘older’, distressed look, a few signs of wear and tear won’t be a problem for you.
An extremely hygienic option
Karndean vinyl flooring has hygiene built into it. The protective coating of this hardwearing floor is polyurethane, which, because it is non-porous, won’t absorb any dirt or associated bacteria and germs.
Warm to look at, warm to touch
Warm toes can feel like the height of luxury and the good news, for those of you who love to be cosy, is that Karndean flooring can happily be used over under floor heating up to 27°C.
A safe, no slip option
Karndean flooring has been carefully created to keep you safe from slips and trips. With a superior surface treatment and commercial grade slip ratings, a Karndean floor can keep the whole family, from the youngest to the oldest, safe.
Simple repair and replacement
Although Karndean floors are amongst the most durable available, time and accidents can occasionally take their toll. However, one of the things that make Karndean flooring so long lasting is that fact that you don’t have to replace the whole floor if something does go wrong. Your qualified Karndean flooring specialist will be able to replace a single tile or plank for you.
Is Karndean flooring installation easy?
You will probably be pleased to hear that laying Karndean flooring is a job for the experts. At Indigo Flooring we have worked on a huge range of flooring projects and are happy to work with your interior designers to offer a bespoke service. Before installation Karndean flooring requires acclimatisation out of its packaging, to a temperature of between 18°C and 26°C and it should be kept at this temperature for 24 hours following installation. You will need to turn off any under floor heating at least 48 hours before your new floor is laid.
Your installation specialist will check the moisture level of your sub-floor. If this exceeds 75%, he or she will lay a damp proof membrane to ensure a perfect installation. Once your sub-floor has been prepared, an appropriate adhesive will be applied and your tiles or planks carefully laid into position. The final installation step will be to apply a roller. Your beautiful new floor will then be ready to walk on in 24 hours.
Are you wondering how to clean Karndean flooring?
Karndean floors require relatively little cleaning because their superior surfaces make them far less likely to collect dirt than other types of floor. The first step to cleaning a Karndean floor is to remove all loose dirt by sweeping it gently with a soft brush. Once your floor has been swept you need to use a solution of specialist cleaner and water to mop, removing excess water as you go. Once your floor has dried you will be able to walk on it again. To really look after your Karndean floor, you can give it a six-monthly treatment with Karndean Refresh, which will give additional protection and maintain a lovely satin finish.
